Making a Difference, Feeding the Hungry

Our pastor, Bishop Paul R. Sanchez, has encouraged parishioners of OLQM to help with the food pantries in our neighborhood. Parishioner Mary Aguirre has been doing service at the food pantry at Our Lady of Mercy on Kessel Street. Currents TV talked to some of those volunteering at Mercy (WATCH video below) and The Tablet also ran a story that you can read here: Forest Hills Parish Food Pantry Feeds the Hungry.

Our Lady of Mercy’s food pantry operates weekly on Saturday mornings. If you, too, are interested in helping at our sister parish, contact Deacon Dean Dobbins at the OLM rectory: ddobbins@diobrook.org or 718-268-614.

Several parishioners of our church also volunteer at an evening food pantry at Queens Community House (108-25 62nd Drive) that operates monthly on the 4th Wednesday of every month. There are two shifts: setup from 3PM to 4PM; food distribution from 6PM to about 8PM. If you are interested in volunteering at QCH’s pantry, call our rectory and leave your name, phone number, and email and our parish coordinator will contact you with more information.
