About Our Program
Children begin attending classes in 1st Grade, receive the sacraments of Reconciliation and First Communion in 2nd grade, and the sacrament of Confirmation in 8th grade. Parents and guardians are required to attend special meetings regarding the sacraments.
Parents and guardians at their child’s baptism were commissioned to bring their child up in the Catholic Faith. They were reminded that they are called to be the first and best teachers of their children. Parents set the good example of attending Mass every week, encouraging prayer at home, and forming their child’s conscience.
Our volunteer catechists and staff are happy to assist parents in these responsibilities and present our faith to the students in a well-prepared and interesting manner.
Through the dedication of parents, volunteer-catechists and staff, we hope to provide each child with a love of their faith and a longing to act and be like Jesus.
On Sunday, our parish offers a special Mass at 10 a.m. for families with children aged 4 to 10. The Mass is a CLOW (Children Liturgy of the Word) Mass. Children will be dismissed after the opening prayer to hear the reading of God’s Word and a reflection on that Word in a language that they can understand. They will return and join their parents and the parish community for the Liturgy of the Eucharist after the Prayer of the Faithful.
