Car-Free Austin Street?

Queens Community Board 6 has voted on a resolution requesting that the Department of Transportation (DOT) study “a possible redesign of Austin Street as a first step for higher pedestrian safety and lower car congestion” (Forest Hills Patch has been reporting on issue).

Depending on what the study recommends, Austin Street could become less accessible to people coming to our academy or our Church.

The Forest Hills Chamber of Commerce is holding a meeting on Wednesday, March 29, and will update us on the DOT study, which may include banning cars on Austin Street and eliminating parking. This meeting is not open to the public (as previously announced) but is for business owners/ FH Chamber members only.

If you would like to express your opinion on this issue to DOT and Queens Borough Commissioner Nicole Garcia, you can use the online form to Contact the Department of Transportation.
