As Roman Catholics, we have surely been disturbed by the negative news about the Catholic Church these past few months. I ask for your continued prayers for all victim-survivors.
Pray also for our Church. As Bishop DiMarzio reminded us in his column of November 14, 2018 on the Roman Catholic dioceses of New York State, no other comparable institutions except our dioceses have been served with a subpoena by the State Attorney General. The subpoena asks the dioceses in this state for a multiplicity of information regarding the sexual abuse of minors and adults by any clergy, employees, and volunteers of each diocese since 1950.
My question is: If the state was truly concerned about all victim-survivors, why has it not subpoenaed all institutions that work with minors and vulnerable adults?—Bishop Sanchez
