New York Encounter (the “Encounter”) is an annual three-day public, cultural, faith-based event with opportunities for education, dialogue and friendship. This year’s theme is Longing for the Sea and Yet (Not) Afraid and will focus on how as Catholics we can engage the world in dialogue between Fear and Desire. The main events include poetry readings; presentations and discussions on trends in international development; reflections on Pope Francis’s encyclical Laudato Si; personal stories of desire, sorrow, and forgiveness; and musical performances.
