It is a time for our parish to celebrate all the blessings God has bestowed on us since the parish founding in 1912. Our parish feast day falls during a special octave in the Church calendar devoted to the Blessed Mother, our patroness. The octave begins on September 8, the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary; continues through the feast of the Most Holy Name of the Blessed Virgin on September 12; and concludes with the memorial of Our Lady of Sorrows on September 15. In one of the suggested Gospel readings for Our Lady of Sorrows, Jesus from the cross speaks to John and to all of us: “Behold your mother.”
This year (2021), we are combining our traditional parish feast celebration on Our Lady of Sorrows with an evening prayer service for the Year of St. Joseph, the guardian of Jesus and Mary.
