Parishioners of OLQM helped bring the bags of food donated by our parish to a Catholic Charities van, which came to bring the donated food items to St. Pius V Parish in Jamaica. There, volunteers are feeding the newly arrived asylum seekers two hot meals a day. We also collected $1,939 in cash as part of the emergency food drive on the weekend of June 24/25. We are distributing these funds by sending $1,500 to St. Pius V’s church kitchen and the balance to Catholic Charities Brooklyn/Queens, which is coordinating efforts to aid the migrants. Thank you to all who donated food and dollars to the food drive.
