A Farewell Tribute to Deacon Greg

“God’s Choicest Blessings on Deacon Greg and Siobhain Kandra”

In early July 2023, Deacon Greg Kandra and his wife and Siobhain were preparing to depart Forest Hills and retire to Florida. Bishop Sanchez, speaking on behalf of the entire clergy, said:

“We pray for God’s choicest blessings on Deacon Greg and Siobhain Kandra. Deacon Greg, with Siobhain’s support and prayers, has faithfully served the people of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs since his ordination in 2007.  Deacon Greg has interviewed families seeking the baptism of their children, and he has baptized many of those same children. He preached with clarity and compassion countless homilies, assisted at numerous liturgies, and assisted with our parish program to prepare adults to receive their sacraments through RCIA.  We are happy that Deacon Greg will continue to be able to give parish and diocesan retreats and missions and write for his blog and books. May God continue to accompany Greg and Siobhain in their future endeavors! We look forward to welcoming them on their visits to New York.”  — Very Rev. Francis J. Passenant, Bishop Paul R. Sanchez, Father Antonin Kocurek, and Msgr. Joseph L. Cunningham
