After five years of study, prayer and discernment, Thomas Jorge will be ordained to Holy Orders on Saturday, May 27, 2017, at the Co-cathedral of St. Joseph in Brooklyn, becoming a permanent deacon for the Diocese of Brooklyn/Queens. Tom is from Forest Hills, attended OLQM school, and spent most of his life here in our parish. He was mentored by Deacon Greg Kandra during formation. “Tom will be a blessing to the diocese,” says Greg, “and I know that [his wife] Olga’s prayerful love and support will sustain him—along with the prayers of so many who love them both.” Ad multos annos!
On Sunday, May 28 at the 1 p.m. Mass, newly ordained Deacon Thomas Jorge will assist Bishop Sanchez in celebrating a Mass of Thanksgiving. Let us come together as a parish in thanks and ask for God’s blessing for Tom on his ordination to the Sacred Order of Deacon. Afterward, please join us for a reception in McLaughlin Hall (the school auditorium) for Tom and his wife Olga.
In your charity and generosity, please also remember Tom and Olga in your prayers—and offer prayers of thanksgiving for this great gift of another vocation to serve our church.
