Blood donations are critical during the summer. The blood supply tends to decrease in the summer months because people are on vacation. Yet during summertime, trauma cases increase because of outdoor activities and travel. And while many of us are taking a break for rest and relaxation, those that are ill are still in need of medical treatment.
This year’s blood drive was held on August 13, 2023, in the New York Blood Center bus mobile. The results: 52 donors registered, with 6 deferrals (due to eligibility requirements), resulting in 46 whole blood donations. These 46 donations have an impact beyond mere numbers, touching the lives of more than 138 patients.
Thank you on behalf of the New York Blood Center and the patients who will benefit from your blood donations.
