Bishop Ford Guild Seeks New Members

The Diocese of Brooklyn/Queens is working with the Maryknoll Society on efforts to have Bishop Francis Xavier Ford, M.M., declared a saint. Soon after Brooklyn-born Bishop Ford entered the seminary to become a priest he decided to become a Maryknoll missionary in China. His decision to travel to the other side of the world to preach the Gospel made a difference in the lives of thousands of people in China. He served for 34 years as a Maryknoll missionary in China. Under the postwar communist government, he was arrested under espionage charges and died in a prison camp in 1952.

The Bishop Ford Guild is actively seeking new members to keep alive the inspiring memory of this Servant of God; to bring his life, ministry, and faithful death to others; and to provide spiritual support and financial assistance to the cause of his beatification and canonization. The guild currently has 75 members. There are different membership levels, including annual memberships of $25 a year for individuals and $50 a year for families, plus lifetime memberships of $500 per person and $1,000 per family.
