Each year, Our Lady Queen of Martyrs recites a Novena to Honor St. John Vianney, beginning on July 27 and concluding on his feast day, August 4. All parishioners are invited to participate by choosing the name of a diocesan seminarian and committing to pray for him throughout the nine days of the novena.
On the second Sunday of this year’s novena, August 3, we will welcome Father Alvaro Morales Sanchez, a newly ordained priest, as our guest celebrant at the 11:15AM Mass with choir.
Father Morales’s journey from tuning diesel engines to tending souls is vivid proof that every vocation begins with a spark. Born in Mexico and raised in New Jersey, Father Morales was trained as a mechanic, but a deeper calling led him to trade tools for the sacraments. Now, he is serving at Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish on Parsons Boulevard in Jamaica. Please join us in welcoming him, and then stay after Sunday Mass to receive the beautiful grace of a First Blessing.
Be a Prayer Sponsor
We hope you will join us in reciting the daily novena prayers and asking for the intercession of St. John Vianney to bless our Brooklyn/Queens diocese with good parish priests. Sign-up sheets for prayer sponsors are available in the church, located near the main entrances. A printed four-page novena prayer booklet—containing the prayers and a list of the 2025-2026 seminarians’ names—is also available in church to guide your participation.
