Each year, we have the opportunity to learn about the global mission work of the Catholic Church and offer our prayerful and financial support to a particular mission cause. This year at the Sunday Masses on the weekend of August 23/24, Father James Channan, OP, will preach a mission appeal on behalf of the Dominican Fathers of Ibn-e-Mariam (“Son of Mary”). He will share with us the inspiring work being done by the Pakistan Dominicans—from opening schools for boys and girls to proclaiming the Gospel as itinerant preachers, serving in parish ministries, and teaching in schools, colleges, and universities.
Let’s all listen with open hearts to Father James’s message and be charitable when we take a second collection for his mission cause. The young men called to enter the priesthood as Dominican Fathers in Pakistan depend on the prayerful and financial support of the faithful here in the United States. Your generosity will help them bring the light of education and the hope of Christ to children and communities in Pakistan.
