Mass for Blessed Fulton J. Sheen

Bishop Robert Brennan, Bishop of Brooklyn/Queens Diocese, celebrated the 5PM Mass on September 26, 2026, to commemorate the Beatification of Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen. He gave the homily from the same pulpit Blessed Fulton John Sheen preached from in the early 1960s, when he led Lenten and Good Friday devotions here at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs. One woman at Mass, Ann Pfohl Kirby, was married by then-Bishop Fulton J. Sheen at our parish on October 30, 1954, and he later baptized one of her children. The souvenir card from Bishop Sheen’s 1963 Lenten Retreat at OLQM was shared with us by Kevin Ryan (Class of 1965).
