First Holy Communion Class of 2026

Congratulations to the Communion class of 2026!

This year, 58 children from Religious Education, OLQM Catholic Academy, and those prepared through OCIA received the Sacrament of the Eucharist. Because there were so many, we had two Masses, one on Sunday, April 12 (Divine Mercy Sunday), and one on Saturday, May 3. We pray they will always know God’s love and mercy.

Scroll for a few more photos that Religious Education shared of the second-grade students’ preparations for this most special day.

The Religious Education students who received Communion on May 3 prepared for this special day with a retreat in the school auditorium in April to learn about the Eucharist. During the retreat, the children reenacted the Last Supper with matzos and apple juice, practiced songs for First Communion, and created their communion banners. Weeks earlier, at the conclusion of Lent, they received instruction from Bishop Sanchez on the meaning of the Stations of the Cross.
