Starting in 2027, a new federal tax credit allows taxpayers to direct up to $1,700 of what they already owe in taxes to nonprofit scholarships that support a broad array of educational expenses for ANY SCHOOL—public, private, and religious.
The New York State Catholic Conference notes that more than 90% of K-12 families would qualify. It is a practical way to support students and families and strengthen schools by helping fund academic supports like tutoring, supplies, and special needs services.

We encourage you to ask Governor Kathy Hochul to make haste and opt into this program so New York families don’t miss out.
1. Go to the NYS Catholic Conference Action Center.
2. Choose “Tell Governor Hochul to Opt In to the Federal Scholarship Tax Credit.”
3. Compose your message and complete your name and other information on the petition form.
4. Submit.
