“Well done, my good and faithful servant!” was my first thought upon hearing of the passing of Veronica McCarthy.
Known to all as “Ronnie,” she was devoted to the RCIA program, serving as its leader and coordinator for the past several years.
Ronnie was also involved in another important ministry — one less visible but no less vital — serving quietly and faithfully as a Parish Trustee for over a decade. Bishop Sanchez and I relied on her advice over the years for issues that arose in the parish. Her counsel on parochial and diocesan matters earned her recognition from the diocese in the form of the “Pro Ecclesia” award, conferred by Pope Francis and presented by Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio at St. Joseph’s Co-Cathedral in September 2020.
Ronnie’s steady strength and presence will be missed. May she rest in the peace of Christ, the Risen Lord.
